In this week’s video, I take you with me as I make the first of two 4 foot by 8 foot raised beds out of rough cut lumber from a local sawmill. For this build, I will use half-lap joints for the corners, which turns out to be very effective at keeping the box square and solid. I believe in a time like we are experiencing now, it is important to support your local businesses as much as you can. It’s also a good idea to increase your self-reliance by starting to grow your own food. These raised beds are 18 inches tall, which makes them plenty deep for growing whatever you like.
