One of the major motivating factors in moving to Tennessee was the “built in” community I already had here. One of the main pillars of that community is my good friend Greg Pennington. A few weeks ago, Greg and I were able to take part in an urban lumber salvage project for some truly massive oak trees where the city was clearing for a waterway. We cut the trees to length with chainsaws then brought the trees back to Greg’s to saw them into lumber on his Timber King lumber mill for future use. Greg showed me his lumber storage and how to stack and sticker wood to dry it. Take a tour of Greg Pennington’s windsor chair shop, tour his sawmill tour and check out his lumber storage as we share some plans and project ideas for the future. If you’re interested in learning where your lumber comes from, how to turn logs into lumber, how to mill your own wood, how lumber is dried, and what the heck we are gonna do with all this wood, this is a great place to start.
