In this week’s video, I show you how to make strong, Floating Tenon Joints with basic tools. This method is something that anyone can do and fits any small humble woodworking shop. The example in this video is the construction of a cedar, garden gate. This gate requires the same type of joinery as a solid wooden door. I love using floating tenons and mortise joinery. I own a Festool DF500 domino joiner but I don not own a DF700, which is what you would use to make deep mortise and tenons joints. As you will see in this video, there is no issue with doing it by hand for a fraction of the cost.
